and physical will vary by role.The Position:BPD is seeking an
experienced, personable, and detail-oriented Vice President of
Finance and Controller who will oversee accounting, financial
operations, monthly revenue recognition, and detailed revenue
forecasting functions. This role requires an engaging leader who
excels in collaboration, fosters accountability, possesses strong
interpersonal skills, and brings a positive sense of humor to our
growing, dynamic firm.The Responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic partner to executive leadership, providing
insightful financial analyses and recommendations to inform
critical business decisions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of accounting
professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement,
accountability, and professional growth.
- Core Accounting responsibilities include:
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition practices in compliance
with GAAP (ASC 606).
- Manage and execute key accounting processes, including
supporting accounting analysis and journal entries for most
important line items on the P&L and Balance Sheet.
- Running month-end close process.
- Core Financial, Planning & Analysis Responsibilities
include:
- Maintain detailed revenue forecasts, at the client and project
levels.
- Comprehensive financial reporting, including client and project
profitability, operational improvement opportunity analysis,
etc.
- Effectively collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to
streamline processes, resolve financial challenges, and enhance
operational efficiency.
- Lead and coordinate external audit and tax engagements,
maintaining productive relationships with audit and third-party
advisors.
- Ensure robust management of client contracts, billing
processes, accounts receivable, payables, and cash-flow
processes.
- Facilitate regular financial review meetings with internal
stakeholders, ensuring transparency, understanding, and informed
decision-making.The Essentials:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required; a CPA
designation is strongly preferred.
- 10-15+ years of relevant finance and accounting experience,
including substantial leadership experience.
- Proven expertise in revenue recognition, financial forecasting,
budgeting, and external audit and tax processes.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building
skills; adept at effectively collaborating across all
organizational levels.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to
mentor, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP
systems, preferably Workamajig.
- Detail-oriented with a thorough and rigorous approach to
accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ability to adapt swiftly in a fast-paced environment,
effectively managing multiple priorities and projects.
- Experience in marketing services, finance, or client services
is preferred.
- Previous experience working with a public accounting firm is
preferred.
- Prior experience within a private equity-backed organization is
