Description:
We're seeking a Senior Physicist - Proton Oncology Solutions to
join a high-performing radiation oncology team. In this pivotal
role, you will ensure the safe and accurate delivery of proton
radiation therapy, contribute to the commissioning and calibration
of cutting-edge technology, and lead initiatives to enhance
treatment effectiveness and safety.
This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of proton
therapy, particularly in supporting the commissioning of the IBA
ProteusOne system, launching in 2026. You'll work closely with a
multidisciplinary team to ensure clinical excellence and advance
research and education in the field of radiation physics.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Ensure precision in the delivery of proton therapy treatment plans
across a diverse patient population.
Provide ongoing medical physics support to the Radiation Oncology
Department.
Lead equipment commissioning, calibration, and QA processes for
proton therapy technologies.
Oversee radiation protection protocols for both patient and staff
safety.
Develop and refine QA systems specific to proton beam therapy.
Collaborate with clinical staff to optimize radiotherapy
outcomes.
Assist in evaluating and integrating new radiation therapy
technologies.
Maintain strict adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory
standards.
Contribute to clinical research and academic initiatives within the
department.
Requirements:
Education:
Master's degree in Medical Physics - Required
PhD in Physics or Medical Physics - Preferred
Licensure & Certification:
ABR or BMP board certification - Required
Florida Therapeutic Radiological Physicist (TRP) License -
Required
Must meet continuing education and certification maintenance
requirements
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in a complex radiation physics program
Minimum 3 years in proton therapy - Required
Experience with PBS proton therapy, IBA Proteus system, and
RayStation TPS - Preferred
Strongly preferred: Experience in commissioning proton therapy
systems
Skills & Proficiencies:
Expertise in proton therapy QA, beam delivery, and treatment
planning
Familiarity with RayStation, Eclipse, Precision, and Oncentra TPS
platforms
Knowledge of AI-based contouring tools (Limbus) and imaging
technologies (Catalyst SGRT, ImagingRing, ClearRT, 4D CT
simulators)
Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in medical
physics
